#How do I connect a cash drawer?

The cash drawer connects directly to your receipt printer using a DK (Drawer Kick) cable.
The cable is attached to the drawer on one end and has an RJ11/RJ12 connector on the other end, which plugs into the printer.
When an opening is requested, the printer sends an electrical pulse to the drawer to unlock it.

#Do I need to configure the cash drawer?

No. If your receipt printer is correctly configured on your account, no additional configuration is required.

#Which cash drawers are compatible?

You can use different models of cash drawers, with either front or top opening.

Most models have a 3-position lock with a key allowing:
– manual opening
– automatic opening (the position used for opening via the printer)
– complete locking

#How can I test the cash drawer opening?

You can test your cash drawer:
– in the 'Till' section, by clicking 'Open drawer' in the top right corner;
– during a sale, by selecting the CASH payment method.

Go to 'Settings/Payment methods' to choose which payment methods will automatically trigger the cash drawer to open during a sale.

#Problems and solutions

The drawer clicks but does not open.

Check that the drawer lock is not in the complete locking position.
If you hear a click, this means that the electrical pulse is being sent to the drawer, but it may be mechanically locked with the key.

My drawer does not open at all.

Some printers use specific codes to trigger the opening of the cash drawer.
Consult the documentation provided by your printer manufacturer or contact their support team to obtain the drawer opening codes.
Then send this information to our customer support team via the messaging system in your account (envelope icon in the top right corner). We can then configure your account with the appropriate codes.
