Receipt printer

You can connect one or more receipt printers to your account to automatically print customer receipts and, for food service establishments, kitchen preparation tickets.

Receipt printing is automatic: no intermediate window asks you to confirm the printout. This saves time and makes the checkout process smoother.

#What printers are compatible?

Compatible printers are thermal printers using the ESC/POS protocol, which is a widely used communication standard for receipt printers.

For the purchase of your receipt printer, we recommend our partner: https://www.materiel-caisse.com

⚠️ Beware of certain printers that only emulate ESC/POS and will therefore not be compatible.

#Which interface should I choose?

Receipt printers are available with different interfaces:
USB
Bluetooth
Ethernet
Wi-Fi

We generally recommend network printers (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). They offer greater flexibility and stability because they do not depend on the computer or device to which they are physically connected.

USB printers are nevertheless perfectly suited to Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

#What type of paper rolls should I use?

All printers are direct thermal printers, so you need to use standard thermal paper rolls. No other consumables are required.
These rolls are readily available from office supply stores or online.

The recommended format is 80 mm wide, although 57 mm rolls can also be used.

#Install your printer

Before connecting your printer to your account, you must first install it correctly on your network or computer.

Network printers:
The printer must be connected to your network and have a valid IP address.
See the dedicated guide: Install a network printer.

Local printers on a computer:
For printers connected via USB or Bluetooth to a computer, the printer is generally automatically recognized by the operating system when it is connected.
If it appears as an unknown device, you will need to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer.
It is also possible to install it as a generic printer (Raw printer) when necessary.

Bluetooth printers on Android tablets:
On an Android tablet, you generally only need to pair the printer from the tablet's Bluetooth settings.

iPhone, iPad and Chromebook:
On iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Chromebooks, a network printer is required.
The printer must be connected to the network via your router or Internet box.
See the complete guide: Printers on iOS.

#Connect the printer to your account

Once the printer has been correctly installed on your network or computer, you need to install HibouLink.
HibouLink is the connector that establishes communication between your account and your printers.
Its installation and configuration are quick and require no particular technical skills.
See the guide: HibouLink Connector.

HibouLink is a program developed by our teams, specifically designed to ensure communication between your account and your printing devices.
You can download it from your account under Settings/Printing/HibouLink.

HibouLink is exclusively used for the features required for this communication.
When downloading or installing it, your operating system or antivirus software may display a security warning.
In this case, make sure that you downloaded HibouLink from your account, then continue with the standard installation procedure proposed by your system.

#Configure printers for each point of sale

By default, you can assign to each point of sale:
one receipt printer;
– and one kitchen printer.

You can also assign a specific printer to each user, different from the printer defined by default for the point of sale, under Settings/Users/Users.

For food service establishments, it is possible to manage several preparation printers.
For example, you can use different printers to separate preparations according to workstations or product types.
See the guide: Kitchen printers.

#Customize the receipt content

For legal reasons, the identification of your point of sale, registered under Subscriptions/My account, must be printed in the receipt header.

You can then customize the receipt content using numerous customization tags under Settings/Printing/Receipt.

For example, you can add business information to the footer, such as:
– your loyalty program information;
– exchange or return conditions;
– additional information for your customers.

See the complete guide: Receipt configuration.

You can also print your logo on receipts.

The logo must first be registered directly in the printer using the utility or software provided by its manufacturer.

Once the logo has been registered, enter the corresponding logo code in the receipt configuration under Settings/Printing/Receipt so that it can be printed.

More information about logo printing.

#Problems and solutions

My receipts are not printing

If you are using a local printer, check:
– that the printer is correctly recognized by your computer;
– that it is properly installed and working;
– that its name has not changed from the name entered under 'Settings/Printing/HibouLink'.

If you are using a network printer, check:
– that your device is connected to the same network as the printer;
– that the printer is accessible on the network;
– that the printer's IP address matches the one entered under 'Settings/Printing/HibouLink'.

In all cases, also check that:
HibouLink communication is enabled;
– the printer is not showing an error;
– the printer's indicator lights are not signaling a problem.

The receipt prints, but it is completely blank

The paper roll was probably inserted the wrong way around.
With thermal paper, only one side of the paper is heat-sensitive.
Remove the roll and insert it the other way around, then perform another print test.

I can't install my printer despite following the guides

If you have followed the configuration guides but still cannot install your printer, you can subscribe to the Printer Installation service from the Subscriptions section of your account.
You can then schedule a remote session with our technical support team, who will remotely take control of your computer to perform the configuration.
⚠️ The session must be carried out on a Windows or Mac computer, which must be available and used exclusively for the duration of the session.
