Receipt printer on iOS
To print from an iPad (iOS), the printer must be connected to the network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
The configuration requires setting up port forwarding on your Internet box or router. This port forwarding allows our software to send print data to your network, and then your router forwards it to the printer.
Important: your Internet box or router must allow you to configure IPv4 port forwarding. This feature is often unavailable on connections using IPv6 only and may be limited on some 4G/5G routers.
#1. Retrieve the printer's IP address
Start by retrieving the local IP address of your printer.
See the guide for retrieving the printer's IP address
#2. Configure port forwarding
Log in to the administration interface of your Internet box or router.
Set the printer's IP address
In your router's DHCP settings, assign a fixed IP address to your printer.
The goal is for the printer to always keep the same IP address if your Internet box/router is restarted.
Create the port forwarding rule
In your Internet box/router interface, look for the section used to configure port forwarding. Depending on the equipment, it may also be called NAT, PAT, or Port forwarding.
Create a new rule with the following settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Protocol | TCP |
| External port | 9177 |
| Internal port / destination | 9100 |
| Destination IP | Printer's IP address |
| Incoming IP addresses | All |
The external port 9177 is given as an example. You can use another available port, but it must then be entered in your account.
The internal port 9100 corresponds to the standard printing port used by the printer.
Warning: do not restrict incoming IP addresses if your router provides this setting. Select "All" or the equivalent option.
#3. Enter the port in the software
In your account, go to: 'Settings/General settings/Printers & receipts'
In the 'Receipt printer' field, enter the external port configured on your router.
In our example, enter: 9177
#If you see the 'Printer blocked' message
If the 'Printer blocked' message appears when attempting to print, this generally means that port forwarding is not working correctly on your Internet box or router.
Check the following:
– Make sure the iPad is connected to the same network as the printer.
– Use an online tool to check that your external port is open on your router (using your public IP address).
– Restart your Internet box or router. This may be necessary with some Internet service providers to refresh the configuration.
– Log out of your account and then log back in. The 'Printer blocked' message prevents any new printing attempt for the duration of the session.
#IPv6 connections
The port forwarding described in this guide requires an IPv4 address.
It does not work with an Internet box or connection having only an IPv6 address.
If your connection uses IPv6 only, contact your Internet service provider and ask them to enable an IPv4 address.
With some providers, IPv4 activation can be performed directly from your Internet box/router's administration interface.
