Label printer

The software offers two methods for printing your labels:
Direct printing: the labels are printed directly on a label printer.
Indirect printing: the labels are printed on A4 sheets or using a desktop printer, such as Brother or Dymo.

For smooth operation, we recommend direct printing. It allows you to automatically print one or more labels by simply clicking a button, without any intermediate step.

Indirect printing is described in the guide: [A4 Labels].

#Which label printers are compatible?

Compatible printers are thermal printers using the ZPL or TSPL language.
These two languages are commonly used by professional label printers and allow the software to directly control the content and position of the elements to be printed.

For the purchase of your label printer, we recommend our partner: [https://www.materiel-caisse.com[(https://materiel-caisse.com/?l=en)

#Which interface should I choose?

Label printers are available with different interfaces: USB, Ethernet, and sometimes Wi-Fi or Bluetooth

We generally recommend network printers (Ethernet or Wi-Fi).
They offer greater flexibility and stability, as they do not directly depend on the computer or device to which they are physically connected.

USB printers are nevertheless perfectly suited to Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

#Which label rolls should I use?

Since compatible printers are thermal printers, they use thermal label rolls.
No other consumable, such as an ink cartridge, is required.
Thermal label rolls are readily available from office supply stores or online.

When purchasing your rolls, check that they are compatible with your printer, particularly with regard to:
– the label width;
– the roll diameter;
– the maximum dimensions accepted by the printer.

By default, in 'Settings/Printing/Labels', templates are available for the following formats:
51 × 25 mm
32 × 25 mm
However, you can use other label formats.
The content to be printed can be freely positioned using X and Y coordinates, allowing you to adapt the template to virtually any label size compatible with your printer.

#Install your printer

Before connecting your printer to your account, you must first install it correctly on your network or on your computer.

Network printers:
The printer must be connected to your network and have a valid IP address.
See the dedicated guide: Install a network printer.

Local printers on a computer:
For printers connected via USB or Bluetooth to a computer, the printer is generally automatically recognized by the operating system when it is connected.
If it appears as an unknown device, you will need to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer.
It is also possible to install it as a generic printer (Raw printer) when necessary.

Bluetooth printers on Android tablets:
On an Android tablet, you generally only need to pair the printer from the tablet's Bluetooth settings.

iPhone, iPad and Chromebook:
On iOS (iPhone and iPad) and on Chromebooks, a network printer is required.
The printer must be connected to the network via your router or Internet box.
See the complete guide: Printers on iOS.

#Connect the printer to your account

Once the printer has been correctly installed on your network or computer, you must install HibouLink.
HibouLink is the connector that establishes communication between your account and your printers.
Its installation and configuration are quick and require no particular technical skills.
See the guide: HibouLink Connector.

HibouLink is a program developed by our teams, specifically designed to ensure communication between your account and your printing devices.
You can download it from your account, under 'Settings/Printing/HibouLink'

HibouLink is used exclusively for the features required for this communication.
When downloading or installing it, your operating system or antivirus software may display a security warning.
In this case, check that you have downloaded HibouLink from your account, then continue with the installation by following the standard procedure provided by your system.

For more information on installing and configuring HibouLink: HibouLink Connector.

#Configure and print your labels

Choose a label template under 'Settings/Printing/Labels' that is compatible with the language used by your printer: ZPL or TSPL

If you use a label format different from those offered by default, you can create your own template.
See the corresponding guides:
ZPL Labels
TSPL Labels

To test your configuration, open a product form and click the 'Print label' button.

If printing works correctly, your configuration is complete.

You can print several labels for the same product reference from the 'Variants and barcodes' section of the product form.

When receiving a stock order, you can print the labels for the products received:
line by line;
– or all at once, from the « Misc » section located at the bottom of the stock order.

#Problems and solutions

My labels are not printing

If you are using a local printer, check:
– that the printer is correctly recognized by your computer;
– that it is properly installed and working;
– that its name has not changed from the name entered under 'Settings/Printing/HibouLink'.

If you are using a network printer, check:
– that your device is connected to the same network as the printer;
– that the printer is accessible on the network;
– that the printer's IP address matches the one entered under 'Settings/Printing/HibouLink'.

In all cases, also check that:
HibouLink communication is enabled;
– the printer is not showing an error;
– the printer's indicator lights are not signaling a problem.

Several labels are printed instead of just one

Your printer probably needs to be calibrated.
Calibration allows the printer to correctly detect the position and dimensions of your labels.
On many models, calibration is performed automatically at startup.
On other models, such as Zebra printers, a procedure using the printer's buttons is required.
To find the exact procedure, search online for your printer model followed by the term 'calibration'.

The label content is shifted when printed

First, check that the printer driver is configured with the correct label dimensions.
If you change the driver settings, we recommend restarting the printer before performing a new test.
If the problem persists, you can also adjust the position of the content in your label template by modifying the X and Y coordinates of the different elements.

I can't install my printer despite following the guides

If you have followed the configuration guides but still cannot install your printer, you can subscribe to the Printer Installation service from the Subscriptions section of your account.
You can then schedule a remote session with our technical support team, who will remotely take control of your computer to perform the configuration.
⚠️ The session must be carried out on a Windows or Mac computer, which must be available and used exclusively for the duration of the session.
