Use a kitchen display screen

A kitchen display system helps your cooking staff manage the workflow of orders.
More efficient and less paper than kitchen receipts, the kitchen display system creates interactions between your wait staff and your kitchen team.

Premium option is required to use the kitchen display system.

in 'Settings/Users/Access management', enable the right: 'Enable the kitchen display system (track orders on a kitchen screen)'.

To open the kitchen screen, click on the 'cutlery' icon at the top right corner of your account.


1/ Introduction to the kitchen display system

The kitchen screen displays all orders to prepare on the right side, and the detail of the order selected with possible actions on the left side.
You can also displayed all running items classified by action, time of arrival and others criteria.

If you manage several preparation areas, you can only display the products linked to your prep area.
To link a product to a prep area, go to the product form and add in the 'Supplier code' field: a colon followed by the prep area name (ex: ':pizzaoven').
Then, it will be possible to select the prep area at the top of your kitchen screen.

When an order is sent to kitchen, you will find it automatically on your kitchen screen with a sound notification.
If there are item modifiers or notes, they will be listed just under the item name.
The kitchen staff can then select the the order, and use color-codes for the different items to help staff see what’s cooking and what’s ready to go:

  • Grey for items sent to kitchen,
  • Red for items claimed by the wait staff,
  • Yellow for items in preparation,
  • and Green for items ready to be served.

Tickets and order courses are timestamped to help managers track the kitchen workflow.

The order disappears from your kitchen screen, when the sale is closed.
If in your workflow, sales are closed before you send them to kitchen, you can enable the right in 'Settings/Users/Access management': 'Display the order on the kitchen display system, even if the sale is closed'.
When the order is completed, the kitchen can clear it in the ticket header on the kitchen screen.


2/ Interact with the wait staff

The kitchen screen is updated in real-time when an order is sent to kitchen or modified.
When an item status is updated on the kitchen screen, the serving staff is automatically informed with color badges displayed in orders.

Only items sent to kitchen are displayed on the kitchen screen.
If you add new items to an order and send them to the kitchen in a second time, oldest items will not be resent.

If the wait staff deletes an item already sent to kitchen, the item will be strikethrough on the kitchen screen.
